Why Water in Winter?

Hello there,

At the time of this writing, the northern hemisphere is in the thick of wintertime. For the mid-west that means more clouds than blue sky’s and cold, wet weather. After the slowdown from the holiday rush the last thing on peoples minds is dehydration. That is something saved for the long, warm sunny, days of summer. Right?

Not necessarily. Through the next few weeks, check out the Think Sarah! site for an editorial series of articles talking about the importance of hydration during any time of year. There will be a series of quick tips and pointers shared here on the blog too.

So a few tips to ensure you are getting enough water:

  • Make sure you are taking in more water than any other type of liquid.
    • Coffee, tea and other sugary drinks can actually be detrimental if not accompanied by water intake.
  • Drink water throughout the day.
    • It is better to drink a regular amount of water all day than to “crash” drink your ounces before bed.
    • Not only can drinking your daily intake of water at night disrupt sleep because of toilet runs, it can upset stomachs in some people.
  • If your mouth is dry, the rest of you needs hydration too.
  • As the old adage says, drink 6-8, 8 oz glasses of water per day, or two large Stanleys. 🙂

What are your go-to methods to remain hydrated? Please share in the comments below.

There is so much more to come!

Blessings,
